Draft of Women & Children Repression Prevention Act gets final nod

The Cabinet has given final approval to the draft of the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act (amended), 2020.
The approval was given at a virtual cabinet meeting with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in chair on Sunday (October 25).
The premier joined the meeting through video conference from her official residence Gonobhabon while other ministers from the cabinet division of the Secretariat.
Cabinet Secretary Khandker Anwarul Islam briefed media in detail at the Secretariat after the meeting.
Earlier on October 13, President Md Abdul Hamid issued an ordinance on the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act (Amendment), 2020 with inclusion of death sentence as the highest punishment for rape after the cabinet approved it on October 12.
