7 burnt in explosion in scrap store

At least seven people were burnt in an explosion that occurred in a scrap store (Bhangari Dokan) at Beribadh area in the capital’s Mohammadpur on Tuesday (October 27) afternoon. Of them, three are in critical condition, according to physicians.

Being informed, firefighters and policemen rushed to the spot.

Abdul Latif, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Mohammadpur Police Station, confirmed the news.

He said, “The burn victims were taken to Sheikh Hasina National Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute.”

According to locals and burn victims, around 3:00pm, scrap items were being packed in the store pressing by a machine like every day. At one stage, a bottle of foam exploded, leaving several injured including some of workers of the store.

According to risingbd’s medical correspondent, seven burn victims were taken to the hospital. Of them, owner of the store Abdul Alim, worker Amir Hossain and Saidur Rahman are in critical condition. They have been kept in Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
