Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said Bangladesh does not want war but peace. The nation wants to move forward while maintaining friendship with everyone. We must have to put emphasis on establishing a strong armed force to defend itself from external aggression.

The premier said this while virtually raising flags of the eight units and organizations of the Bangladesh Army from her official residence Gonobhabon in the capital on Wednesday (October 28).

PM said, “We have to achieve more strength as we can remain prepared in case we are ever attacked. We want to have the strength to fight against it.

Sheikh Hasina said, “I will say again that we want peace. We want friendship, not animosity. We do not want war.”

Mentioning that she has witnessed the horrific form of war with her own eyes, Sheikh Hasina said, “We are also the victims. So we do not want to be involved in that destruction anymore. However, we want to move forward on the path of peace.

She further said, “Whenever Awami League comes to power, her government has taken steps for the development of the Armed Forces. We want the living standard of every member of the Armed Forces and the people of Bangladesh to be improved. That’s the way we work.”
