Bangabandhu Nat’l Youth Day Sunday

The government is going to celebrate the National Youth Day named after Bangabandhu this year marking the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

State Minister for Youth and Sports Zahid Ahsan Russel announced the scaled programme at a press conference at Secretariat on Thursday for the Day to be observed on Sunday.

With the tagline of ‘Youth employment as call of MujibBorsho’, national level event will be held at Osmani Smriti Milanayatan in the capital.’

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is scheduled to connect to the session from her official residence of Ganobhaban.

There will be awarded 21 self-dependent youths and 5 youth organizers for their contributions in development of young generation members in respective areas. Ministry of Post and Telecommunication will release special postage and first day cover marking the day.

State Minister Zahid Ahsan Russel said the government is working for leveraging potentials of youths to lead the country to next phase of development implementing Digital Bangladesh 2021 and Prosperous Bangladesh 2041.

“The government has trained up 3.02 million youths in different trade from January 2009 to June 30 this year. During the timeline, some 728.7 thousand youths became self-dependent,” he informed the media.

Among others, Youth and Sports Secretary Akhtar Hossain, Department of Youth Director General Akhtaruzzaman Khan Kabir were present in the press meet.
