French cartoon: Protesters block traffic at Paltan

Huge traffic jam has formed in Paltan areas of the capital as protesters blocked different roads and intersections.

Various Islamist parties gathered at Baitul Mukarram, Paltan and adjacent areas around 10:30 am on Monday (November 2) to protest the French president’s support of secular laws allowing caricatures of the Prophet Muhammad.

Meanwhile, the protesters chanted slogan carrying banner, festoons.

Paltan police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abu Bakkar Siddique told risingbd that additional police forces were deployed in the area to avoid untoward situations.

Water cannons are also kept ready, he added.

Long tailback of traffic was seen in Kakrail, Gulisthan which created the sufferings of city dwellers.
