2nd wave of Covid-19: Incentive packages to be announced soon

Providing emphasis on health security, the government has taken various kinds of steps after the coronavirus pandemic hits the country.

A total of 21 incentive packages worth Tk120353 crore were announced to keep rolling the wheels of the country’s economy. The government is going to announce more incentive packages to tackle the possible second wave of the deadly virus.

Speakers in a view exchange meeting said this on Thursday (November 26).

Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi attended the function as a chief guest.

Japan envoy to Bangladesh Ito Naoki, Mercy Miyang Tembon, World Bank's Country Director for Bangladesh and Bhutan, BGMEA president Doctor Rubana Huq, Sanem executive director Doctor Selim Raihan, Bangladesh Institute of Development Studies (BIDS) senior research fellow Dr. Naznin Ahmed joined the discussion program.

In the program, commerce minister said, the economy of Bangladesh has started regaining fighting back against coronavirus. People are being alert due to the effort of the government. As a result, the coronavirus situation is improving.

“The incentive announced by the prime minister was enough to run the economy. The government is mulling similar type of incentive packages again,” the minister added.
