Woman killed, set body on fire in capital

A woman on Sunday (November 29) was killed and set her body on fire at Baishtek Imam nagar of the capital’s Kafrul area.

Police recovered the burnt body and sent it to morgue for autopsy.

The deceased was known as Sima Akter, 33.

Selimuzzaman, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kafrul Police Station, confirmed the matter in the evening.

He said, “Being informed around 1:00 pm, police rushed to the spot and recovered the body. She was slaughtered to death and set the body afire. In primary investigation, her step son was found involved in the incident.”

Meanwhile, top officials of police have visited the spot. The crime scene unit of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) was collecting sample from the spot while the report was filed.

However, police have yet not uncovered the reasons behind the murder.
