Bangladesh to start vaccination for coronavirus early February

Khurshid Alam, Director General of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), said there is a plan to start coronavirus vaccination across the country in early February.

He made the announcement on Monday (January 11).

Khurshid Alam said the vaccine will arrive in the country between January 21 and January 25. Registration for the vaccine will start from January 26. There is a plan to implement it from the beginning of February, one week after coming to the country. The vaccine will not be given to pregnant women and people aged under 18.

In reply to a query, he said, everyone will be vaccinated for free. Step by step, 6 crore 80 lakh doses of vaccine will come for 3 crore 40 lakh people. Some 7,344 teams have been formed for vaccination.

Vaccination centers will be set up at Upazila Health Complex, Union Parishad, District Sadar Hospital, Government-Private Medical College, Specialized Hospital, Police and BGB Hospital and Combined Military Hospital (CMH).
