17 gambler arrested in Dhaka

Members of Rapid Action Battalion have arrested 17 persons while they were gambling in Chawkbazar and South Keraniganj areas in Dhaka.

The arrestees are – Md. Rubel, 35, Alamgir, 33, Yusuf, 34, Hasan, 36, Ibrahim, 32, Mohammad Ali, 40, Azizul, 30, Siddiqur Rahman, 32, Iqbal Hossain, 35, Arif Bepari, 37, Soleman, 36, Haydul, 37, Selim, 41, Palash, Sohel, 32 and Mizan Talukdar, 38.

A press release from RAB-10 confirmed the matter on Saturday (January 16).

Acting on a tip-off, a team of RAB personnel, conducted a drive at the areas and caught 17 gamblers red handed while they were gambling, the RAB press release said.

A casino board, seven mobile phones, playing cards, a bed-sheet and Tk 22,550 were recovered from the spot, stated the release.
