3 get death in mother-son murder case

A court in Dhaka has awarded death sentence to three people in a case filed over the sensational murders of a woman and her son in the capital’s Kakrail area in 2017.
Judge Md Rabiul Alam of the third Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge's Court of Dhaka announced the verdict on Sunday (January 17).
The death row convicts are victim’s husband Abdul Karim, his second wife Sharmin Akter Mukta and Mukta’s brother Al-Amin alias Jony.
Mentionable, Shamsunnahar, 46, and her son Shaon, 19, were killed in their 79/A Anjuman Mofidul Islam Road house in Pioneer lane of Kakrail on November 1, 2017.
Following the incident, Shamsunnahar’s brother Ashraf Ali filed the case with Ramna Police Station the next day against her husband Abdul Karim, his second wife Sharmin Mukta, Mukta’s brother Jony and others.
Ali Hossain, Inspector (Investigation) of Ramna Police Station, submitted charge sheet against them on July 16, 2018.
Later on January 31, 2020, the court framed charges against the accused.
