‘Not virtual, book fair will be the same as before’

State Minister for Cultural Affairs KM Khalid said, “The Amar Ekushey Book Fair-2021 will be the same as before, not virtual. Only the date announcement for the book fair is depending on the Prime Minister.”

He said this while addressing a press conference after a view exchange meeting attended by organizers, writers and publishers in Shaheed Munir Chowdhury seminar room of Bangla Academy on Sunday (January 17) noon.

“Amar Ekushey Book Fair is being organized although the date for the fair is yet to be fixed. The Ministry of Cultural Affairs will send three possible dates of arranging the fair to the Prime Minister. The three dates may be February 20, March 17 and 27 or the Prime Minister herself may fix the date for the fair,” KM Khalid said.

The state minister for cultural affairs said, “We can’t launch Amar Ekushey Book Fair on the first day of February due to coronavirus situation. In our today’s meeting, it has been decided that the book fair will be the same as before, not virtual as the corona situation has somewhat improved.”
