WB to lend Bangladesh 65 lakh dollar to educate slum children

The World Bank (WB) is providing Bangladesh an additional 65 lakh (6.5 million) dollars in loans under the Reaching Out of School Children (ROSC-II) project. In Bangladeshi currency, the amount is about 55.25 crore (85 taka per dollar).
The Economic Relations Department (ERD) signed an agreement with the World Bank in this regard on Monday (January 18).
The agreement was signed by ERD Secretary Fatema Yasmin and World Bank Country Director Mercy Tembon.
A press release issued by ERD revealed the matter.
Mentionable, the Department of Primary Education is implementing ‘Urban Slum Children Education Programme’ under ‘Reaching Out of School Children (ROSC) Phase-II’ project to give a second chance to the children of deprived and extremely poor families living in different slums of 11 city corporations.
