Coronavirus death toll nears 8,000 in Bangladesh

The death toll from the Coronavirus infection is nearing the mark of 8,000 in Bangladesh as 16 more people died in the 24 hours to Thursday (January 21).

With the latest figure, the number of total fatalities surged to 7,966.

Besides, some 584 new cases were detected over the same period, taking the total number of infected cases to 5,30,271 across the country.

A press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) confirmed the development.
