Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen said that the government is planning to set up diplomatic zone in Purbachal.
The minister made the assertion while replying to a question of Jamalpur-15 seat lawmaker Mozaffar Hossain in the national parliament on Thursday (January 21).
“Some of the embassies and foreign missions need land in Baridhara diplomatic zone to move all of their offices there. But the shortage of land in the area is an important factor in this regard.
"We are now coordinating with the authorities, including RAJUK and Ministry of Housing and Public Works over the matter.”
AK Abdul Momen said, various development activities are going on in the capital. As a result, the adjacent areas of Dhaka are expanding quickly. So, it is necessary to establish a diplomatic zone to set up embassies.
