Nine arrested with Yaba tablets in city

Detective Branch (DB) of Police have arrested nine drug peddlers along with 15,000 pieces of Yaba tablets in the capital.
Md Walid Hossain, chief of media wing of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) confirmed this on Friday (January 22).
He said, “A DB team (Uttara Zone) of illegal arms and drug control arrested them conducting a drive at Demra Police Station area in the capital on Thursday (January 21) afternoon.”
The arrestees were known as Helal Uddin, 24, Mst Jhumur Akter, 20, Md Ashik Mia, 24, Md Shah Alam, 24, Md Sharif, 45, Md Shafiqul Islam, 23, Md Helal Uddin, 28, Md Amzad Hossain, 55, and Md Mahabub Alam, 36.
Assistant commissioner Shahidul Islam, who led the drive, said, “The arrestees used to sell Yaba tablets at different places in the capital collecting from Cox’s Bazar border area. A case has been filed against them with Demra Police Station.”
