Prices of rice, onion, vegetable increase

The prices of rice, onion, and vegetable went up on the city’s kitchen markets over the week ending on Friday (February 26).

The price of local onion increased by Tk 5-10 a kilogram over the week on the city markets. The price of vegetable oil increased by Tk 10-15 a kg.

Besides, prices of winter vegetables – tomato, gourd, bean, and cauliflower increased by Tk5-10 per kilogram.

Traders blamed the supply of shortage for increasing the prices of essential commodities on the market.

Kaium Mia, a trader of new market said, season of winter vegetable is ending. May be that’s a reason behind the price hike.

The price of garlic by Tk 10 a kg and was selling for Tk 140 a kg. However, prices of sugar, pulse, and spices remained unchanged.
