Cartoonist Kishore was tortured by RAB: Lawyer

Cartoonist Ahmed Kabir Kishore’s lawyer has filed an allegation with the court that Kishore was tortured by Rapid Action Battalion (RAB).

Kishore’s lawyer Barrister Jyotirmoy Barua filed the allegation with the Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate’s court on Sunday (February 28).

According to the allegation, members of RAB-3 arrested Kishore from his Lalmatia residence in a case filed under Digital Security Act on May 6 in 2020. Later, they tortured him physically and mentally.

Meanwhile, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Jashim rejected a petition filed to take cartoonist Ahmed Kabir Kishore in remand, in connection with the case filed under Digital Security Act.

Kishore has been in jail for over nine months.
