Probe report over Mushtaq’s death at Home Ministry

The probe body formed by the Home Ministry submitted a report over writer Mushtaq Ahmed’s death in jail.

Arun Kanti Shikder, chief of the probe committee, also additional secretary of Surokkha service department, confirmed the matter to the reporters on Wednesday (March 3).

He said that the report has been submitted to the Secretary of Surokkha service department. The investigation report will go to the minister from him.

However, the additional secretary, who is the head of the committee, expressed inability to reveal what is in the investigation report.

On the evening of February 25, Mushtaq suddenly fell ill inside the Kashimpur Jail in Gazipur. He was immediately taken to the jail hospital. From there he was sent to Gazipur Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment. The doctor on duty there declared him dead at 8:20 pm. 

Mushtaq was son of Abdur Razzak of Chhoto Balapur area under Araihazar police station in Narayanganj. 

He had been confined in Dhaka Jail since May 6 last year and later in Kashimpur High Security Central Jail since August 24 in a case filed under the Digital Security Act of Ramna Model Police Station of Dhaka Metropolitan.
