‘ACC has enough power’

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has currently enough power, said outgoing chairman of the organisation Iqbal Mahmood.
He made the remarks while exchanging views with reporters at ACC headquarters in the capital on Monday (March 8).
Iqbal Mahmood said, “The ACC does not have nails and teeth is a very old and ancient tale. The accent does not hold good any more. Now, ACC is a powerful enough institution. It has enough power.”
He said, “If there is any success of ACC, then the people, civil society, NGOs will all judge. Maybe we could not do much, but we tried. If there is anything wrong with this endeavor, it is my fault.”
Mentionable, Iqbal Mahmood, a1981 batch BCS cadre, became the chairman of ACC on March 10, 2016. He replaced Md Badiuzzaman. His term as the fourth chairman of the ACC will end on Tuesday (March 9).
