The way this year’s Mangal Shobhajatra will be held

Considering the pandemic situation, the Dhaka University authorities have decided to organise ‘Mangal Shobhajatra’ on a limited scale celebrating the Pohela Boishakh, the first day of Bengali New Year.
A symbolic Mangal Shobhajatra will be held on the premises of university’s fine arts faculty with its teachers and students only maintaining all health guidelines and the procession will not go out of the faculty premises as the entire country is going into a strict lockdown from April 14. And that holding of Mangal Shobhajatra will be circulated through virtual platforms.
University’s Vice Chancellor Dr Akhtaruzzaman on Sunday (April 11) said, “This year, Mangal Shobhajatra will be observed with the participation of very few people so that it can be circulated virtually. But no outsiders will be able to participate in it.”
Assistant professor Najir Khan Khokon, also member secretary of Mangal Shobhajatra celebration committee, said, “The present situation is very bad. Under this situation, the Mangal Shobhajatra will be held on a limited scale maintaining all health guidelines. The entire event will be circulated virtually.”
