Police looking for Mamunul’s ‘second wife’

Relatives are not finding Jannat Ara Jharna, second wife of Hefazat-e-Islam Joint General Secretary Maulana Mamunul Haque. A general diary (GD) has been filed with Paltan Police Station in this connection.

Abu Bakar Siddique, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Paltan Police Station, on Sunday (April 11) noon told risingbd that Jharna’s son Abdur Rahman filed the GD on Saturday (April 10). With the permission of the appropriate authorities, Investigation has been launched to ascertain the authenticity of his allegation. At the same time, attempt is being made to find out the location where Jharna is currently staying.

Abdur Rahman said in the GD statement, “I could not communicate with my mother (Jharna) for some time. So, I went to the house on Dhanmondi North Circular Road where my mother used to live. The owner of the house informed me that she had left the house on April 9. Since she did not return. I enter my mother’s room and find three of my mother’s personal diaries. Later, with the diaries, I was on my way home. But I sensed that some people were following me. So, I suspect there is a fear for me and my mother’s life. That’s why I lodged the diary to ensure the safety of me and my mother’s life.”

Mentionable, on April 3, Hefazat leader Mamunul Haque was sieged long with a woman at the Royal Resort in Sonargaon, Narayanganj. When the police and the local administration arrived there, Mamunul claimed that Jharna was his second wife.
