Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal has urged traders for controlling prices of essential commodities during Ramadan, saying it is possible to control commodity prices through mutual cooperation.
He said this at a function in the capital on Sunday (April 11). Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry organizes the webinar.
The Minister said, “Commodity prices fall in other countries during Ramadan. But it is exception in this subcontinent. Here the price goes up. In this case, traders have no choice but to keep the market price stable. If necessary, the government will provide all kinds of cooperation. In Ramadan, there is a difference between the supply and demand of goods. Due to this in many cases the price of goods becomes uncontrolled.”
“Our law enforcement is very efficient. In that case, if you cooperate with the information, the law enforcement will take immediate action to control the market. It is possible to control rules, discipline and market through mutual cooperation. Which was matched by everyone in the past. The government also has a plan to do the same this time,” he added.
