Drivers and conductors are often seen to lock into war of words and scuffle with the passengers of public transports over fare issue. This untoward incident has increased several folds due to lockdown.
The reasons behind this untoward incident are said to be charging high fares, irregularities and misbehavior.
Passengers on different routes in the capital allege that bus conductors are charging additional fares than the 60 percent increase in bus fare set by the government during the lockdown.
A passenger on Jatrabari route alleged that the previous fare of Kajla to Gulistan in the capital was Tk 10 which now stands at Tk 16 after 60 percent increase. But it is seen that passengers are being charged Tk 20.
He also alleged that bus conductors are taking passengers on two adjacent seats and charging additional fares from them, causing an untoward incident every day.
Passengers say there is no place where complaints can be filed.
Meanwhile, bus staff claimed that they are facing harassment while taking the fare set by the government from the passengers.
