PM urges people to avoid crowds, wear masks

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has urged the countrymen to avoid crowds and wear masks to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

On Tuesday (April 13) evening, she made the urge while addressing the nation on the occassion of Pohela Boishakh, the first day of the Bangla calendar which is on Wednesday.

Calling on all to be cautious about the spread of coronavirus, the premier said, “Each of us has a responsibility to protect ourselves, our family members and our neighbors. So, avoid crowds, use mask while going outside of home. After returning home, be clean and tidy and inhale vapor of hot water.”

She also spoke about the 18-point directive issued by her government in this connection.

She said, “If we all maintain the health guidelines to prevent the coronavirus, we will be able to control this epidemic, Insha Allah.”

PM said, “There is no reason for you to be afraid. The government is always by your side. After the second wave hit, I issued instruction to take action to help the poor and low-income people. We have already allocated Tk 807.65 crore for job creation in rural areas and more than Tk 672 crore for the holy month of Ramadan and the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr. This will benefit about 1 crore 24 lakh 42 thousand low-income families of the country. Since the outbreak of the coronavirus last year, the scope of various social security activities including VGF and test relief has been expanded.”
