A week-long stricter lockdown is underway across the country from 6:00am on Wednesday in a bid to prevent alarming rise of the Covid-19 pandemic.
The first day of the lockdown has seen almost empty and quiet streets as the country moves to contain the spread of coronavirus.
Except for emergency services, all government and private offices are closed during the lockdown. Many offices and factories have remained open. As a result, many people are seen who were going to offices and their working places. Specially, people who live from hand to mouth and labourers are seen in the streets.
Police and other law enforcing agencies are enforcing the strict rules. Streets in the capital were less crowded, large malls and shops remained closed.
Buses and private cars were not seen and but rickshaws and some goods-laden vehicles were seen in the streets.
