Police seek 7-day remand for Mamunul Haque

Police want a seven-day remand for Joint Secretary General of Hefajat-e-Islam Maulana Mamunul Haque in a vandalism case.

He will be produced before a court in Dhaka on Monday (April 19), seeking remand for him.

Confirming the matter to risingbd, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Mohammadpur Police Station Abdul Latif said, “Maulana Mamunul Haque will be produced before a court with a seven-day remand prayer.”

Police arrested the Hefazat leader from Jamia Rahmania Arabia madrasa in the capital’s Mohammadpur around 12:30pm on Sunday (April 18). Later, he was brought to the office of additional deputy commissioner of DMP Tejgaon division (Mohammadpur Zone). Then, he was taken to Tejgaon police station for interrogation. After interrogation, he was handed over to the Detective Branch (DB) of police.

Mahbub Alam, joint commissioner of Detective Branch of Dhaka Metropolitan Police, said, “Mamunul Haque may face primary interrogation in the DB office. Mohammadpur Thana police will produce him before the court from here.”
