Security beefed up at court premises

Security measures have been beefed up at the court premises in order to avoid any untoward incident as Joint Secretary General of Hefajat-e-Islam Maulana Mamunul Haque arrested in a vandalism case will be produced before the court today.

Police said Mohammadpur Thana police will produce Mamunul Haque before the court after 11:00am on Monday (April 19) with a seven-day remand prayer for him.

Md Iqbal, Senior Assistant Commissioner of Police under Kotwali Thana, said, “Additional law enforcers have been deployed at the court premises following Mamunul issue.”

Police arrested the Hefazat leader from Jamia Rahmania Arabia madrasa in the capital’s Mohammadpur around 12:30pm on Sunday (April 18). Later, he was brought to the office of additional deputy commissioner of DMP Tejgaon division (Mohammadpur Zone). Then, he was taken to Tejgaon police station for interrogation. After interrogation, he was handed over to the Detective Branch (DB) of police.
