Khaleda’s application to reach Home Ministry Sunday

The application submitted by BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s family seeking permission for her treatment in abroad will be sent to the Home Ministry by the morning on Sunday (May 9) with the opinion of the Law Ministry.

Law Minister Anisul Huq came up with the disclosure to reporters on Saturday (May 8).

On the night of May 5, Khaleda Zi’'s younger brother Shamim Iskander took the application to Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal’s house in Dhanmondi. It was later sent to the Law Ministry for legal procedure. Secretary Mohammad Golam Sarwar took the application sent from the Home Ministry to the residence of the law minister in Banani on Saturday (May 8).

Khaleda Zia’s sister Selima Islam said if the government gives permission, Khaleda Zia will be taken to Singapore first by a chartered plane or air ambulance as per the advice of the medical board. She may also be taken to UK or Saudi Arabia from Singapore. The first choice of Khaleda Zia and her family is the United Kingdom. Diplomatic contacts are continuing with the two countries in this regard.

Khaleda Zia tested positive for coronavirus on April 11. On April 15, she was taken to the capital’s Evercare Hospital for CT scan. She returned home after nearly an hour. On April 27, she was again taken to the hospital for medical checkup. Then, she was admitted to the hospital as physicians suggested. She was later shifted to the Coronary Care Unit (CCU) as she had been suffering from shortness of breath.
