Incepta gets approval to produce Chinese Sinopharm vaccine

The Directorate General of Drug Administration (DGDA) has approved the country’s pharmaceutical company Incepta Pharmaceuticals Ltd to produce Chinese Sinopharm vaccine for coronavirus.

DGDA Director General Major General Md Mahbubur Rahman confirmed this to risingbd on Sunday (May 16) afternoon.

He said more than one companies which have all kinds of capabilities for vaccine production. Incepta has been allowed to produce vaccines after looking into various aspects.

Details in this regard will be briefed at 11:00 am on Monday (May 17), he added.

Meanwhile, an Incepta official claiming anonymity said that vaccine production is likely to begin in the country this month.

The World Health Organization (WHO) approved the vaccine of Chinese state-owned company Sinopharm for emergency use earlier this month. It is the first vaccine invented by a country outside the West to be approved by the World Health Organization.
