Bangladesh urges UN to resolve Palestine crisis

Bangladesh has urged UN security council to resolve the Palestine crisis as Israel has been carrying out heavy bombardment in the country for the last several days.

Bangladesh’s Foreign Affairs Minister Dr A K Abdul Momen made the urge after virtually joining the urgent meeting of Executive Council of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) on Sunday (May 16).

The emergency meeting was arranged to discuss Israeli attacks on Palestinian civilians.

Dr A K Abdul Momen said Bangladesh believes in a comprehensive and sustainable solution to the Palestinian issue in accordance with the relevant UN resolutions, the Arab Peace Initiative and the Quarterly Roadmap.

“In order to ensure international peace and security as a key organ of the United Nations, the UN Security Council should raise the issue of al-Quds al-Sharif and violence and security violations in occupied territories,” he said.

He further said, “Bangladesh thinks that there is no excuse to justify the killing of innocent civilians. Israel is violating general and human rights by any logic and international law. It cannot be justified or justifiable in any way.”
