Journalists announce to boycott health ministry’s press conference

Bangladesh Secretariat Reporters’ Forum (BSRF) has decided to boycott a press conference of the Health Ministry in protest against the arrest and harassment of Prothom Alo’s Senior Reporter Rozina Islam.

The press conference was scheduled to be held at 11 am Tuesday.

BSRF sent a press release to media outlets on Tuesday.

BSRF will announce the next programme following an emergency meeting of the executive committee on Tuesday, the press release read.

Rozina Islam went to the health ministry of the Secretariat on professional duty at around 3:30pm on Monday.

She was confined in a room there and her mobile phone was taken away. At one stage she fell sick there.

She was taken to Shabagh Thana after being kept confined for over five hours at the Secretariat. A case was filed against her on Monday midnight under Official Secret Act.
