Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has issued directives not to appoint foreign consultants in projects liberally. At the same time, consultants will be taken as much as needed. Consultants cannot be appointed with blindfolded or lavishly. It is necessary to appoint a consultant only after verifying and justifying.
The Premier said in the meeting of the National Economic Council (NEC) on Tuesday (May 18).
Planning Minister M A Mannan briefed this to the media at the noon after the meeting.
He said, “Prime Minister said in today’s meeting that the Ministry of Health will conduct research on their own needs. The Ministry of Agriculture will do their agricultural needs. Therefore, there should be a separate fund for research in each sector. More and more research is needed. The Prime Minister has put emphasis on keeping scientists and researchers in these cases.”
M A Mannan said, “The Prime Minister further said that many projects could not be completed due to coronavirus. These must be completed with the highest priority. Among the projects, which are directly related to the welfare of the people should be given the highest priority.”
