Salehpur Bridge again closed, huge traffic jam

A huge traffic congestion has been found on Dhaka-Aricha highway after a lane of Salehpur Bridge at Aminbazar in Savar was closed from early Saturday for repairing and inspecting the previous cracks developed in the bridge.

It was seen that due to the closure of the lane, a six-kilometer traffic congestion, stretching from Salehpur Bridge to Hemayetpur area, has been created, causing huge sufferings to people.

Inspector of Aminbazar Traffic Police Mohammad Jalal Uddin Rumi confirmed the news. 

He said “Cracks developed in the bridge were repaired earlier and now inspecting works are going on. We expect we will be able to reopen the road after 8.00pm”.

Shamim Al Mamun, executive engineer (Dhaka Division) at the Roads and Highways Department (RHD), said the same.

In February, cracks developed in the bridge and it was closed for four weeks for repairing the cracks.
