23 cattle markets to be set up in Dhaka

A total of 23 cattle markets will be set up in the capital ahead of the Eid-ul-Azha, the second biggest religious festival of the Muslims.
The decision was taken in an inter-ministerial meeting chaired by LGRD Minister Tajul Islam on Sunday (June 13).
On the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha, the meeting was held to review the management of the sacrificial animal market, the slaughter of animals at specific places and the preparation for the removal of sacrificial waste.
It was revealed that a total of 23 makeshift cattle markets- 10 in Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) and 13 in Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC)- will be set up. Alongside, cattle will be sold at DNCC’s Gabtoli and DSCC’s Sarulia permanent markets.
Meanwhile, a total of 270 places in 54 wards of DNCC while 375 places in 75 wards of DSCC have been selected for sacrificing animals.
