A Dhaka court has placed businessman Nasir Uddin Mahmud and Tuhin Siddique Omi on a seven-day remand in a case filed against them under the Narcotics Control Act.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Nivana Khair Jessi passed the order after Detective Branch (DB) of police produced five people including Nasir and Omi before the court with a 10-day remand prayer on Tuesday (June 15).

The court also placed three women—Lipi Aktar, Sumi Aktar and Nazma Amin—on a three-day remand each in the drugs case.

Earlier, a case was filed against businessman Nasir Uddin Mahmud and five others involving an attempt to rape and murder of film actress Pori Moni.

The actress filed the case with the Savar Police Station on Monday (June 14) afternoon against six people including Nasir Uddin Mahmud for attempting to rape and murder her.

Later, the DB police arrested Nasir Uddin Mahmud and five others from a flat in Uttara area of the capital Dhaka. The law enforcers also recovered drugs involving 1,000 pieces of yaba tablets and foreign wine from their possession.
