Two officers confess to misappropriating Dhaka Bank money

Two officers of Dhaka Bank Ltd have admitted to the misappropriation of about Tk 3.77 crore from the vault of bank’s Bangshal branch.

Senior Officer and Cash In-Charge Riazul Haque and Manager (Operation) Imran Ahmed admitted to Manager Abu Bakar Siddique that they have misappropriated the money.

Sub-Inspector of Bangshal Thana Prodip Kumar Sarkar wrote this in a petition to the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Rejesh Chowdhury.

The court will hear the petition this afternoon.

According to the petition, an audit team found out that Tk 3.77 crore went missing from the bank’s Bangshal branch vault, and they submitted a statement to   Branch Manager Abu Bakar Siddique. Later, two officers admitted to the manager that they have misappropriated the money.

Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) will investigate the matter, the petition also said.
