Awami League founded to establish rights of Bengalis: PM

Stating that the Awami League was founded to establish the rights of the Bengalis, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said all the achievements of the people of this country have come with the hands of the Awami League.

The Premier on Wednesday (June 23) said this while addressing a rally at Bangabandhu Avenue in the capital marking the 72nd founding anniversary of the ruling Awami League (AL).

She joined the programme through video conference from her official residence ‘Gonobhabon’.

Sheikh Hasina said the Awami League was born to rise again the sun of independence that had set on the edge of Palashi.

She said, “Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman had a strange power to build an organization. When the people of this country have been exploited and deprived by the Pakistanis, there was no alternative way but independence. That’s how he built the organization. The Awami League has given the people of this country what they have got so far.”
