Police on high alert to implement lockdown

Policemen are on high alert to implement the strict lockdown in the capital Dhaka.

The lockdown is effective from 6.00am on July 1 to midnight of July 7.

During visit to Rayer Bazar, Kadamtali and Signboard areas, it was seen that policemen are on duty to implement restrictions of the lockdown.

They are controlling the movement of vehicles and people by setting up several check posts in the areas. About 15 to 20 policemen are working in each check post. Senior police officials are monitoring activities at the check posts and giving necessary directions.

Talking to Sub-Inspector of Police Abdur Rahim at Rayerbagh check post, he said as per the government instructions, we are working sincerely to implement restrictions of the lockdown to contain spread of coronavirus. No one is being allowed to move without an urgent need. If anyone leaves the house unnecessarily, a strict action will be taken against him.

It was also seen that movement of almost all types of transport has remained suspended on Dhaka-Chattogram highway. All shopping malls, shops and markets have remained closed. A few number of rickshaws are plying on the roads.
