2.5 lakh doses of AstraZeneca vaccine arrive in Dhaka from Japan

A consignment of 245,600 doses of Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine arrived in Dhaka from Japan on Saturday (July 24).

A Cathay Pacific Airways flight carrying the jabs touched down Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport around 3.250pm. 

Japan Ambassador in Dhaka ITO Naoki handed over the vaccine jabs to Foreign Minister Dr A K Abdul Momen.

Prime Minister’s personal physician Dr A B M Abdullah and Health Ministry officials were present there at that moment.

Later, Foreign Minister said in a programme that Japan will deliver 1.10 crore AstraZeneca vaccine jabs to 15 countries. Apart from this, process of bringing vaccines from different countries is also going on. Hopefully, we can ensure vaccination for everyone.

He said, “We are going into co-production very soon. The whole process of co-production is almost complete.”
