The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) has recommended to extend the ongoing lockdown to curb the coronavirus infections.
Director General of DGHS Professor Dr. ABM Khurshid Alam confirmed this on Friday noon.
He said “We have already recommended extending the ongoing lockdown after August 5 to control the Covid-19 outbreak. However, the government has not yet decided on the matter”.
The DG said “The infections are increasing all over the country. How will we handle this? There is no bed in hospitals. If the infections continue to grow in this way, the situation will be very difficult. The situation will be very bad, no doubt about it. With these considerations in mind, we have recommended extending the restrictions”.
The government imposed strict restrictions from July 1 to 7 to reduce coronavirus outbreak. Later it was extended till July 14. Due to Eid-ul-Azha, strict restrictions were relaxed from July 15 to 22. Later, the government imposed all-out strict restrictions from July 23 to August 5.
