Gabtoli sees huge crowds of working people

The government has allowed the operation of public transports on a limited scale till 12:00pm today, Sunday (Aug 01) to facilitate the return of workers of export-oriented industries and factories including garment factories in the capital.

As a result of this, the capital’s Gabtoli area is witnessing huge crowds of working people.

After visiting Gabtoli area this morning, it was seen that working people are entering the capital Dhaka by trucks, pickups, buses, motorbikes through Gabtoli area. Even, someone was seen entering Dhaka on foot.

Akkas Ali, a garment worker who came from Bagerhat, told risingbd: “I started my journey towards Dhaka yesterday evening and arrived in Dhaka with great hardship. I will have to attend office directly from here.”

Another man named Malek Hossain, who came by a pickup to the capital from Khulna, said, “I left home at 10pm yesterday and reached Dhaka at 8am today. Whimsical decision made by the government causes great untold sufferings to ordinary people.”
