The government has allowed public transports to operate until 12:00 pm on Sunday (August 1) with relaxing some restrictions to reduce hassle of returning workers to Dhaka. The number of public transport in the capital was very less since the morning. However, even if long-haul buses run today, no public transports will be able to operate in the capital from noon onwards.
Secretary general of Bangladesh Road Transport Owners’ Association Khandaker Enayet Ullah has said this on Sunday (August 1) noon.
He said though the government has allowed the transport to run till noon today (Sunday). But long-haul buses are taking time to reach Dhaka. So the highway police said they would show some relaxes for long distance buses.
When asked whether public transport will operate in the capital, he said buses will not run in the capital from this (Sunday) afternoon. So far we have received such instructions.
Asked whether the time for public transport would be extended, he said, “We have not yet received any instructions from the government over extension of the time. If we get any such instruction, then the transport will run accordingly.”
