354 arrested in city on 12th day of lockdown

Police arrested 354 people for ignoring restrictions and roaming unnecessarily in the capital on Tuesday (August 3), the 12th day of the lockdown imposed to prevent the coronavirus infection.
Media wing of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) revealed the matter.
Faruk Hossain, deputy commissioner (DC) of DMP’s media wing, said, “They were arrested from Ramna, Lalbag, Motijheel, Tejgaon, Mirpur, Uttara and Gulshan of the capital from Tuesday morning to afternoon. Some 120 were fined Tk 1,77,000 by the mobile court during the period. Besides, traffic police fined 532 vehicles Tk 11,23,000.
