Covid-19 tests at airport from Saturday: Health Minister

Health Minister Zahid Maleque said, there will be RT-PCR lab for Covid-19 test for outbound passengers at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport from Saturday (September 25).

The minister made the announcement after visiting RT-PCR lab at the airport on Thursday afternoon (September 23).

He said, "We hope installation of the infrastructure will be complete by this evening... If all goes accordingly, outbound passengers will have RT-PCR test service and can go abroad smoothly."

In reply to a question, the minister said that there will be 12 machines in six labs. 3,500-4,000 people will be able to get the tests everyday through these labs.

Bangladesh Private Medical College Association DG Anwar Hossain Khan, Prof Abul Bashar Mohammad Khurshid Alam as the director general (DG) of the Directorate General of Health, Airport Executive Director and other top officials attended the press briefing.
