Husband, wife among 4 killed in Khulna road crash

Four people, including a husband and wife, were killed in a road accident on Khulna-Satkhira highway in Jilerdanga area under Dumuria upazila of Khulna on Friday (September 24).

The deceased were known as – Shariful Islam, 25, son of Mahmud Sardar, his wife Shiuly Begum, 18, Reshma Khatun, 32, daughter of Mahiruddin Sana, and CNG driver Ilias Sardar, 45.

Witnesses said, the accident took place around 1:30pm when the auto-rickshaw attempted to overtake a sand laden truck headed towards Khulna.

Meanwhile, the three-wheeler got stuck in the bumper of the truck and drivers of both vehicles to lose control, and the truck and the auto-rickshaw fell into a roadside ditch, leaving the four people dead on the spot.

Dumuria police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Obaidur Rahman confirmed the matter.
