Woman found dead Cox’s Bazar hotel: Key accused Sagor arrested in Dhaka

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested the key accused Sagor Miji, 24, over the incident of killing an unknown woman tourist in residential hotel in Cox’s Bazar.

He was arrested from the capital Sayedabad bus stand toll plaza area around 12:00pm on Saturday (September 12).

Law enforcers also seized three mobile handsets including the victim’s ones and Tk 15,000 cash from his possession.

According to RAB, Sagor rented a single-bed room at ‘Aamari Hotel’ at Kolatoli area of Cox’s Bazar on September 18. He then told the hotel management officers to give him a double-bed room as his wife would reach there from Dhaka on September 20. Later on September 20, the woman reached the hotel and they rented Room No 408 (double beds), claiming them as couple.

On September 21, as no response was made from inside, the authorities entered the room after breaking the lock and found the woman dead. Being informed, police recovered the body and sent it to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital for autopsy.

Sagor said in primary interrogation that he tried to rape the woman. They got into scuffled as she refused to have physical affairs. At one stage, Sagor held her neck tight and pushed her with the wall, leaving her lied on the floor. Later, he caught her throat pressed and hit on her head with a glass. Later, he fled the scene after he sensed the victim died.
