Mistakes in textbook: HC summons NCTB Chairman

The High Court (HC) has summoned the National Curriculum and Textbook Board (NCTB) Chairman over the history distortion in the textbooks for the students of secondary and higher secondary level education.
The HC bench of Justice M Enayetur Rahim and Justice Md Mostafizur Rahman on Sunday (September 26) passed the order after holding a hearing on a writ petition that was filed challenging the mistakes and distortions made in the textbooks.
The NCTB chairman has been asked to appear before the court in person on November 10 this year to explain the issue.
The High Court also issued a ruling upon the respondents to explain as to why they should not be directed to take effective measures for bringing correction in the textbooks for the students of secondary and higher secondary level education.
Education secretary, NCTB chairman, member (curriculum), secretary, chief editor and other respondents have been asked to comply with the ruling within four weeks.
Md Alamgir Alam, a guardian of a student of the Viqarunnisa Noon School & College, filed the writ petition recently.
Advocate Ali Mustafa Khan appeared in the court on behalf of the petitioner, while deputy attorney general Bepul Bagmar represented the state.
