Influence of ‘Jawad’ to persist till Tuesday

The influence of cyclonic storm ‘Jawad’ will persist till Tuesday (December 7) as the storm over west-central Bay and adjoining northwest Bay moved northwards further and weakened into a deep depression over the same area.

It is likely to move further in a northerly direction and weaken gradually.

It may rain over different places of the country in these two days.

This was confirmed from a special bulleting of the Met office on Sunday (December 5).

Rain or thundershowers with temporary gusty or squally wind speed of 40-50 kph is likely to occur over north Bay and adjoining coastal areas of Bangladesh.

Maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to keep hoisted local cautionary signal number three.

Maximum sustained wind speed within 54 kms of the deep depression centre is about 62 kph rising to 88 kph in gusts or squalls. Sea will remain rough near the centre of the deep depression.

Under the influence of the peripheral effect of the deep depression, deep convection is continuing over north Bay and adjoining coastal areas of Bangladesh.

All fishing boats and trawlers over north Bay and deep sea have been advised to remain close to the coast and proceed with caution and they are advised not to venture into the deep sea.

Meteorologist AKM Ruhul Kuddus said, “The storm will weaken before it nears the surface.”
