Remove audio, video of Murad’s comments: HC to BTRC

The High Court (HC) has ordered Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) to take necessary steps to remove all videos and audio of State Minister for Information and Broadcasting Murad Hassan’s derogatory comments from social media in 24 hours.

The HC bench of Justice M Enayetur Rahim and Justice Md Mostafizur Rahman issued the order on a suo muto (voluntary) move on Tuesday (December 7).

The court passed the order after Supreme Court lawyer Syed Sayedul Haque Suman prayed for necessary directives to this effect citing that the audio and videos which went viral on social media will have adverse impact on children and the young if those are not removed immediately.

Earlier, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina ordered the state minister to resign from cabinet by today for making derogatory and indecent comments on videos, said Awami League (AL) general secretary Obaidul Quader on Monday night in a press briefing.
