According to the anti-corruption body Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB), Bangladesh ranked 13th among the most corrupt countries in Corruption Perception Index (CPI) 2021.

TIB Executive Director Dr Iftekharuzzaman unveiled the report at a virtual press conference on Tuesday (January 25) morning.

TIB said, Bangladesh has progressed one step in the CPI report although score was the same as the previous year.

The country’s position in the Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) of the TIB was 12th in 2020.

The CPI ranks 180 countries and territories by their perceived levels of public sector corruption on a scale of zero (highly corrupt) to 100 (very clean).

In 2021, Bangladesh ranked 147th on the global corruption list, scoring only 26 out of 100 points. The score for 2021 is the same as in 2020, 2019, and 2018. Counting from the top, Bangladesh is ranked 147th, one position lower than in 2020, and from the bottom, it is ranked 13th, one position higher than in 2020.
